Kevin is very excited to present his new book, ‘Secrets of the Brush’, 160 pages in full colour containing some of his original classic works and some more recent work, that covers some of the most beautiful parts of the Sydney region and of Australia at large. Enjoy reading about the inspiration and some special stories behind his featured works, including family tales and his own outdoor experiences. The book has evolved as a labour of love as 77 year old Kevin and his family strove to celebrate the work of a lifetime in images, prose and poetry.
The book is also a treasure trove for aspiring artists as Kevin decided to include some of his best-kept secrets on ‘How to Paint’ and ‘Why to Paint’. The first section of the book is devoted to ‘Materials’ and ‘Method of Painting’ including some of the things that have worked well for Kevin as an artist. Topics include Field Painting, Studio Painting, Composition, Drawing, Tone, Colour, Perspective, Title and special techniques such as Glazing, Scumbling, Painting Mist and Reflections.
